Managed to plant out some sweetpea plants today although I'm concerned about the forecast for high winds as i haven't tied them in to the canes. Not many this year, only 38 cordons and the rest will have to get planted wherever I can find some space. Should have some spare seed next year all being well.

Would you please post a photo of your sweet peas' flowers? This spring I almost purchased a package of sweet peas' seeds.
I purchased two packages of Morning Glory seeds.

just had a look back at your Wem show pics scrumpy. Almost makes me wish to start competition work again but although the spirit may be willing the flesh is too weak now. it was interesting to note how the staging changed from the different entries. eg the use of twin leaves at front and rear on some and not others, also as you know, some blooms are left handed and some right handed and I always displayed them so that the entry was properly balanced. No doubt some used reeds and some oasis to stage in. I have used both and also a variation on oasis using dry floral foam and the normal wet oasis. The trick with reeds is to prepare them well in advance into small bundles to fit the vase. And bring a skewer to make a hole for the stems. ps have planted out some but not all of my plants. the cordons are all done so just finding available spots for the bush ones. pps unless you feel you need to stick trophies on the display cabinet there is a trick to keep them shiny bright. When shiny, stick 'em in a polythene bag and seal it tight. Stops them getting tarnished. i got fed up being told to polish them so that's what I did. it was the medals and certificates i preferred anway.

Must admit I'm useless at arranging sweet peas as I never have time to do them properly, unlike the dahlias. I did pick up some tips at the national last year when I arranged them a bit better, even with wonky stems They advised a left facing bloom on the left and right facing for the right and they did look better balanced so this year I'll go for some proper arranging.

And now, some pictures of how good the show looks As you can see, some cracking exhibits from people all over the UK, a tremendous show, and from my point of view, the best news of all is that next years national championship is to be held here, so it'll be double the effort next year!! Fantastic photos Scrumpy.
In this photo what variety do you think is the 1st on the left middle row?
