They are up and about now. OH found one sunning itself on the end of driveway so relocated it out of sight of the cats. I disturbed one while weeding the sweetpea patch and it vanished into the undergrowth. I dislike letting the grass grow too long before cutting as they can come to grief if you're not vigilant when using strimmer/mower.

I've never seen one of those Sweetpea so I envy you yours. I seem to remember Sue/ W.F. on here had them breeding in her compost heap didn't she.

We seem to get quite a few locally. If you have them try putting a piece of corrugated tin or suchlike and check under it regularly. If they are around they will find it. Lovely creatures and not slow either.

Here is one of our resident slowworms. Not the best pic as I didn't want to disturb it unduly. It often gets under an upturned seed tray which I leave just outside the g'house. I'll try and do a better pic later.

I think I can make it out curled around amongst the leaves, has it made a nest out of the straw & leaves there?
