Ok, i have 3 lovely thick 100%wool rugs but they could do with a clean, what do you reckon would be the best way to do it. I have a vax carpet cleaner and organic solution for using in it, but would that damage the rug? i also have a steam cleaner but i have heard that the steam will damage the wool it's self. Any idea's gratefully accepted

I'd get a professional in to do jobs on valued pieces

Are they flat rugs? or fluffy/**** pile type? Our Vax (an upright one) pulls clumps out of **** pile so i end up hand washing .

Is there a label on the back which would give you any idea?

I tend to agree with Louise. I think there are powder cleaners on the market, but don't know how effective they are..

I would also go with Louise, in our old house we had rugs in hall and lounge which i had cleaned professional they came up like new.
