I've noticed bees flying into and out of our cabin through the key hole.

Have you had a look around to see if there's a nest in there? It might be just a single bee going in & out again & again.

Have you had a look around to see if there's a nest in there? It might be just a single bee going in & out again & again. My Husband volunteered to go and bee hunt in the cabin. Went in and shut the door and no sound of a single buzz. He checked around all the corners etc. nothing. He has stuck a folded over several times postit note on the inside of the door (with sellotape.) So if we do for some strange reason have a random mad bee that likes climbing in and out of key holes, he will just bump his head and just have to fly back out again.
I've got work tomorrow so I won't be able to monitor the situation.
I'm buzzing to find out, well actually I would just like to know that we haven't got the stress of a bees nest in the cabin and I wouldn't want to hurt a bee. Don't a bee to want to hurt me either.

It might have been a solitary bee, the kind that makes a nest in a hollow tube/cane & maybe it thinks the keyhole is a tube it could lay eggs in? I wouldn't worry too much about it as bees don't tend to sting unless they feel really threatened & you're trying to bat them with your hand or something & now you've blocked the hole up it'll probably go elsewhere.

It is swarm season. It could of been a scout looking for a suitable new nesting site or just a foraging bee. I've been trying to tempt some bees into a hive by the garage at home this week. There were quite a few in and out of the "bait hive" but it looks like they were just foraging attracted by some honeycomb. If you have any more bees knocking on the shed door, could you please direct them to J30 M6

I'll let them know next time they come knocking . It is a weird situation, want the bees but not in certain places and I haven't got round to planting the bee seeds yet either.
