No, not a large rude gesture The full moon on the 23rd June will be what is known as a mega moon as it is then at it's closest to earth. It will appear larger than ususal especially when low down and can be seen against background objects like trees, buildings etc. Just thought I would mention it in advance for anyone interested in these things.

Tonight and tomorrow night if it is clear you should see the moon significantly larger than usual.

It was cloudy & wet last night so I didn't see anything sweetpea but I did notice on Friday night that the moon looked larger & brighter than usual.

Did see it last night just above the trees but it was quite cloudy and onle seen through the occasional gap. Not sure what time it was as my 'Atomic' clock had gone doolally as the battery had run down

Brighter too. I think tonight is the optimum time to see it at its best.

Not a great pic but last night caught a glimpse (actually around 3am to the south) the moon through the clouds. Definitely looking particularly large and bright at the moment.

I just have to enjoy your picture Steve N because it was too cloudy to see the moon last night. Pity.

I managed a pic last night too steveN but only got a round featureless disc. Just not used to the digital camera yet. I should have gone out with the film camera which is mounted and ready to go with a variety of lenses but went to bed instead.____________getting old now
