What should someone who had never entered a mixed flower class in a show, use to hold a sweet pea in position in a bikini vase?
Seen a lot of people use newspaper for other flowers such as dahlias and daffodils.
PS Yes I did delete the other thread because it was really annoying me seeing hypothetically spelt wrong.

Newspaper is no use for sweetpeas ML. The standard stuff is reeds and many people just use oasis. Reeds can be bundled together in sizes to fit the vase, inserted and then cut off level with the rim using a sharp knife. You then make a small indentation using your thumb . just pressing the reeds in a touch. Fill with water and using something like a skewer make the holes for the stems. Takes a little bit of practice but the stems are held quite firm when done correctly. Oasis is easier to use and you just soak a block of it until saturated then cut off small chunks to fit the vase. the main trouble with oasis is that you only get one chance to position the stems correctly so again a little practice beforehand will help. before even placing the stems in the vase, position them on a clean sheet of paper until you are happy with the way it will look then insert them in the vase.

Thanks Sweetpea that all sounds very interesting but is totally beyond me. I've tried looking on utube but haven't discovered a clip of someone doing it. I think that the hypotheticals are realistically not going to happen.
Hay hoe.
This time tomorrow I might be getting nervous but not about the sweet peas. Maybe next year.
