We had a stroll around the 'Dig The City' event in Manchester last evening, some of it had closed for the night but a lot had been left out, little display gardens showing how to 'green up' your patch even if you live in city & only have a balcony or yard. Very clever illusion here, a photo background which blends in with the buildings either side of the street & is planted up with a real rill, grasses, windowboxes etc. in front. Another one with a photo background & a planted balcony A 'yeti' appears to be guarding some plants outside the Cathedral! Really cute Citroen van being used as a cafe outside Harvey Nichols store amongst the 'gardens' One of the huge 'flowers' made from balloons at the exhibition Lettuce & tomatoes in pots & boxes Garden & pond in boxes by Hulme Community Garden Centre.

You make me want to go to Manchester every time you put something interesting on the forum SueA. They are very clever and Manchester always seems to be public spirited.

That 'Yeti' looks more like Chewbacca the Wookie from star wars

No idea what it was supposed to be sweetpea but there were some tomatoes growing around it's feet! They had some similar figures on bikes & typing at a desk with plants all around them- weird but fun!
