Last year I got a smoke bomb to disinfect my greenhouse, was a bit pricey but it seemed to work, not much smoke when lit. I am thinking about doing it again soon but was wondering if anyone else has used them and what they think. Now they may not be called smoke bombs but you can get them from garden centres and you put them in your greenhouse light the blue touch paper and run outside, don't forget to close the window and door plus hold your breath. I like the idea as it is easy to do and can not stand Jays fluid smell. Reg

I used to use them but had to stop once the frogs came into the g'house. I had a sunken mini pond for them. I found there was a residual faint smell from them which lasted quite some time. Several days.

Some are called sulphur candles, Amazing the EU haven't got around to banning them yet!
I have had one for a few years, meant to use it but never got around to it but after problems this year with red spider I might light it

Reg, if your greenhouse wasn`t filled with smoke it`s likely that you didn`t use enough candles. I used them in a 30ft x 30ft glasshouse years ago, I think I had to use 6 or 7. Believe me, you learn how to move when you have that many to light.lol lol

I saw 2 different makes in the garden centre this afternoon. I thought they would have been a bit cheaper. Cheapest were £7.99

Rob, not a problem, as long as there are no seedlings or new cuttings in there everything else will be fine.

try this
I may give it a go this year as allegedly it helps with spider mite that I always get in the greenhouse. It is safe to use if plants are present.

Scrumpy, sulphur is a fungicide. It is NOT an arachnicide which is what you need for spider mite.

"other greenhouse pests such as the Spider Mite can also be controlled by vapourising sulphur."
That is what they say on the site.
What arachnicide do you use to control it, if you get it that is?
