I tried digging out the monbretia bulbs and Irises in my borders so I can grow other plants but they wont come out any ideas please

I can't understand this joysie21 because your soil should be soft at present. I could not imagine a better time for digging out your unwanted plants. They sound like they are packed in tightly, so you may have to get your spade into the middle of each clump to split them up.

Cherry My soil is clay It looks as thought they are packed together so Ill have to get a man in to dig them out for me as I dont want my back to go again

Joyce, Crocosmia corms pack together in a clump and are difficult to remove, and believe me, no matter how many you dig out you will never be totally rid of them. Slip someone a tenner to get as many out as possible.
