All my pot tubers are what I call my dual purpose pot tubers, the plants were planted into the ground in their pots. They were a week or two behind the rest before they flowered, because they did not take off until they got their roots through the holes in the bottom of the pots into the soil, but there was no difference in size of the blooms. Yours look so neat and tidy, me I've got a tropical forest growing in my greenhouse, without the tropical part.
You've reminded me, been too distracted with my seedlings, haven't done a tropical forest tuber update recently. How do you manage to be so tidy? Where do you keep your seedlings?
p.s. Is that Downham Royal in front of the blue pot?Moonlight, this is a pic I posted back in Jan. You are correct that tuber is Downham Royal. Seedlings were sown in March, some of the seedling tray's were placed on the bench after some of the tubers were finished with, for taking cuttings. What you cannot see in the pic is a board hanging from the eves in the green house just above head height, some trays were placed on that. The seedlings were moved to the greenhouse on the allotment once they started coming through, once big enough they were potted up down there. I thought it looked familiar, don't I look silly now. How big are your seedlings now Tel?

I wonder if I could ask for some advice please on some new varieties I am growing this year. I have decided to have a go at growing some large poms and wonder if anyone else grows them and what would be a good base number to grow up.
Many thanks.

I grew Franz Kafka last year and it wasn't that great and this year I've growing Nuland's Josephine. I'm not very good at growing specifics tho, so not a lot of help really.

I'm growing Minley Carol and Hapet Vinette this year, and will grow them 6-8 up. Also grew Franz Kafka the year before, but it got out of control(my fault), thin stems and lots of small flowers. I think with poms you have to be quite strict in keeping the disbudding up and the stems to 8. Hope that helps a bit snute.

Thanks Markymate - these are large poms not ordinary poms. When growing normal Poms I need to grow a lot more than 8 up as the blooms would be too large. I normally grow Poms all up so the bloom is within the small size needed. I had several firsts last year for my Gurtla and Willows Night.
Minely Carol is a Pom and if you intend to show it will need double stopping and grow it all up or it will be too large and will not fit through the rings. I also remove the calyx to ensure that the bloom tightens back around the stem.
Large Poms need to be a little bigger and I am hoping to find out if anyone else grows them, I am thinking that it may need to be 20-30 up but not sure.

Pom size changes to 55mm in 2015.I struggle to keep minley carol down to size leaving everything on but the wing buds(would have won the small ball, mini ball, pom class at harrogate but for one oversize minley).I for one will welcome the the little extra after numerous N.A.S in the last couple of years.

I know how annoying that feels Tel, same thing happened to me last year with them. Didn't get my order of 20 cuttings till the third week of May, as they won't send the order until all cuttings are ready to travel. Puts them quite a way behind. Fortunately my order from them came a couple of weeks ago, so everything is set for planting out ( I HOPE!!!). Glad your Halls order is here Candyblue, I know you had to buy a load, must have taken Rob an age to pot up
