Nothing wrong with plastic pots but we had some clay ones we bought with a voucher we won I am taking him for lunch as a thankyou especially as he's halfway through putting the new polytunnel up He has now said he thinks we should replace our battered greenhouse with another polytunnel and use the 12 foot battered greenhouse as a cover for some if the dahlias as the roof is fine just leave it pen on the sides! It's dangerous him having a week off it costs me lots of money and all my plans get changed about lol

They are much more cost effective than green houses.....much more for your money. I remember my OH putting up our tunnel about 3 years ago.....nearly killed him....but having said that he is a great deal older than your OH!!. PS: Get him back to work....quickly!!!...lol

I should have my first dahlia flower of the season out, before the end of the month, that is the seedling Wyn's Favourite, this one as been grown in a Morrisons flower bucket in the greenhouse since February. I am hoping it looks like last years blooms, because this seedling is off to the trials first Monday in June, along with Garden Friends.

rReady, willing and able(well, hopefully). Q4 raked in a week ago, so I think they'll be able to plant out this coming weekend. Mainly out the front this year, as having some landscaping done in September in the back, so lots of pots instead this summer . All in all, 56 different dahlias, covering the whole colour spectrum, and dahlia type. Giant, large medium Decs, Cactus and Semi Cactus of all sizes, Double Orchids, Pompons small and large, Collerettes, Singles, Waterlily, Dwarf Galleries, and my favourites, the fimbriated dahlia. This spring I've been a lot more vigilant with my spray campaign, and it certainly has paid dividends, so far no sign of any damage, so will keep it up for the rest of the season. The only blot on the landscape is the slug . They creep out from under the decking in their hundreds at dusk, hence the landscaping, as finally getting rid, and having paving put down. So thanks to everybody on this forum for all your great advice, I've learned so much from you all. Here's to a great summer

That looks beautiful @markymate. I wish I was not downsizing now, although my husband doesn't think I am really.

All dressed up and nowhere to go . Had to put all the dahlias back into the greenhouse to save them getting battered by the torrential downpour. Going to put them out over the weekend, weather permitting .

how do you other dahlia growers fasten up your plants have put 160 tuberes in all indevidualy staked there must be a less timeconsumeing way i thought about trying pig wire but it seems a bit clarty same as pea netting but i wonder how difficult it would be when cutting down at the end of the year
