That is probably the best way to show them off on the forum because they would be altogether and good for reference. Can you bear to go through putting them on again in the dedicated thread for dahlia blooms @markymate? I would not be able to choose the best dahlia out of that selection. They are all quite different and very beautiful. Sorry, I didn't know there was a dahlia bloom thread. I've deleted the post, and moved the pictures to the blooms thread

Give the dahlia's their first watering yesterday, since planting them out. Guess what its raining today, could have saved myself a job.

Noticed a bit of damage to one or two of the giants caused by the heavy rain whilst I was away. Everything is really growing away fast. Got some serious dis-budding to do. Without this I could be do a show 3rd week in July easily.

Far too many in bud for this time of the summer, I'm currently knocking them which is not ideal.

Thank God, it's not just my plants!!!! Although I don't show, as you've seen from my blooms post, lots of my plants are in full flower. Blyton Golden Girl being the prime example. Beautiful flowers on really strong stems. Getting great compliments from passing neighbours about the display . I can hear all you showman sighing at the thought

This is the biggest flower I've ever grown. Cut it this morning and it measured 11.5 inches across, that's 29cm in new money . But the way White Alvas is growing, I think that might be bigger still. Just goes to show that all the hard work preparing the ground through the winter was worth it .

It's Amaran Relish, Tracey. I ordered the cutting from Ridgeview Nursery, Scotland. It's as yet unclassified, but they have it in the giant semi cactus group. It's mentioned in the NDS year book, and should be classed when the new list comes out.
The picture is taken past it's best, but the one on the blooms thread is in better condition. I think you should show this plant next year

I have to disagree with you there Marky, the bloom on the bloom thread is a young bloom, the one on here is spot on for showing.

Dark, dismal and rain all day, then all of a sudden, bright sunshine, no wind and a beautiful evening. A chance now to get out and dead head the large blooms laden with water. Jill's favourite time, when she gets a nice big vase of flowers for the house .
