Hi Raymond, In answer to your question I grew 3 plants of Dikara Superb. I only grew decs this year and found this one be easy to grow. Made many mistakes. Am expanding next year with cactus and small Pom varieties. Hopefully I can do better in 2015. Well done with only 3 plants I am sure you will do better for 2015 I grew 56 this year all garden ones. Now I am hooked . I made a TON of mistakes we all learn and move forward. Planning next year between 70 and 80 plants might be more. Doing mostly small min Dec and cactus semi cactus, collarette and waterlily plus ball and Pom. Will try a couple of medium semi cactus but no large or giants. Perhaps one med Dec. All the best

Well yesterday I have cut half of my dahlias down, but didn't get to finish the rest as cut the top of my finger with the secateurs. Was really lucky as I managed to cut half way across the tip, another little bit further and I may have cut the whole tip off! Me being me wouldn't go to A&E on a Saturday but we managed to steri strip it together and its stopped bleeding so hopefully starting to heal now Blimey Tracey, you were lucky you didn't take the whole lot off. Last Wednesday, put a chisel through the palm of my hand trying to open a pot of paint. Like you, no point in going to A & E, would have bleed to death, before being seen . Fortunately done this after cutting down the dahlias

candyblue @markymate Ouch ! Hope your both going to be ok ! Mark did you get your allotment ? Hope your planning is going well. I cannot make up my mind on which to try too many choices and options. I have my shortlists but need editing down. I am about 50% decided just toying with the waterlily , mediums now and what bi colour etc....

Lots of cold running water, lots and lots of cotton wool, iodine(ouch!), and surgical tape, wrapped around and around. Oh, and kept my hand above my heart to slow the pulse for what seemed ages . The was part was the cotton wool, it's my only phobia .

Planning in place now, and lists are done. Just going to concentrate on three classes, miniature and small ball, and miniature decs. As this is going to be my first year, I want to make sure I don't get side tracked by doing too many varieties. Don't want to try and cram to many vases together until I've been in the exhibition scene for a while, and gain experience as I go. So I think it makes sense, just to concentrate on a small amount first, and gradually build up after a couple off years if all goes well . Hands on the mend, just a small hole and a large bruise now. Fortunately the chisel was very sharp, and made a neat hole.

I think you sound very sensible, except the bit about the chisel through the hand and not going to hospital - Still makes me cringe just thinking about it.

Thank god as you could have done your ligaments and tendons ! I looked into allotments here and it's 4 to 6 year waiting time. I am going for 4 classes maybe 5 if I add a Pom. Everything else for garden display although show quality varieties to play with and practise I can let them flower early and practise staging etc...

Jill doesn't think I'm sensible at all. She thinks I shouldn't be left alone with sharp instruments . Can't wait to her face when I start up my new chainsaw for the first time, think I'll wait till she's gone out
