I was going to do it like that but planting them in double layer trays. i.e. 2 trays the lower tray complete but the higher tray cut individual mini pots to make it easier to pluck the whole pot and then pot it up.
Clear as mud me. Then I thought I would do it like my Dad which will save space.
Each individual germinated plant is going to go be dated and labelled (Well that's the plan anyway).
Till the wind changes direction...

From Station House: for me: Ryecroft Zoe Moor Place
for my Dad: Winkie Lambrisco Ms Kennedy Marston George
I ordered mini plants from Halls: Amber Festival, Hillcrest Hannah, Edwin’s Sunset and Tisa.
Still waiting on my plants from Station House & Halls. Getting a bit impatient the girls are keen to start looking after their dahlias and I'll be happier when I get mine.

Brenda T update,
Looks like Dad's right, there isn't enough of a root system established for the shoots to develop. The one at the top has fallen off. Oh well. What was meant to be will happen.

Just in case you couldn't see it.
Here is a close up.

Lots on Weston Spanish Dancer all round really.
So I am happy with that one to.
Lots to be happy about. + my tubers that Dad is nurturing for me + some cuttings requests for me.
So I should have a couple to plant out.

I've made the mistake of washing my Downham Royal tuber so that I can put it on the bench with my other tubers but it is still too big. Bit stuck really. Anyone got a drill handy?

My big Downham Royal was sitting quite happily on a deep bed of vermiculite, with all it's lobes protected as it was still encased in all it's soil but I wanted it to have the chance to grow like it's brothers and sisters.
I let it soak in the (cat litter tray) and have managed to wash some of the exsess soil and compost off but it is still to huge to fit in a seed tray. The drill would have been used to drill some holes in a large cat litter tray that we have (n.b. Never previously used by a cat - we don't have a cat)
No drill, no holes, so no litter tray. I don't want to keep picking it up as the soil that had previously protected the lobes is now off. So for now it is back sitting in it's tub of vermiculite but with some fresh compost around it. I didn't want to put it in a big pot or big tub because I don't want the tuber to get any bigger.
Don't really know what to do about it.

NEWS FLASH
I've received a text from Mum: Dad has got 4 seedlings up 2day!
I rang me Dad and they are 2 year old seeds (He forgot to sow them last year!)
I was round there today and he showed me his dahlias and his seeds are protected under newspaper; all he needed to do was to lift the newspaper and he could have shown me what to do.
He said that he has got something like 300 odd cuttings...
He also said that he doesn't need 300 odd cuttings...
(+ his seedlings.)

Odd day all round today but I came home with a present.
Yes a baby Sir Alf Ramsey pot tuber and if you look really carefully you can see the eye.
I've potted it up rather than put it on a tray as the roots need a chance to develop before it can throw off anything suitable for cutting but as I only wanted 1 Sir Alf, I can just let it grow away to make a nice little plant ready for planting...
I'll spill the beans on the bee door saga another time, I'm taking an early night.
