I'll take a better one tomorrow.

I was going to leave them in the greenhouse for the night but didn't want to leave my Red Balloons (or the Staleens for that matter) so I caved into my Maternal urges and brought my 6 Red Balloons in, brought them in. Few minutes later HH mentioned that there was going to be a frost tonight but he wasn't sure exactly where. "That's it muttered..." and marched down to the green house carrying Dad's Staleen. Sorry Dad for being a wuss. All that love and effort, didn't want to risk them getting killed in a frost. Left the dahlia plants and girls plants with 1 sheet of newspaper on top. Don't think that my Ryecroft Zoe really appreciated it, as it is the tallest.
Mine are up on a table top under a sun bed. Only joking but when I go to bed the light gets switched off, when I do that I'll pick Dad's tray of Staleen with them. They are currently sitting on the mat by the back door where it is coolest. The Staleen are 'hard' the ying to my personal wuss yang.
Realised that it is late, wasn't expecting it to be that late, shouldn't have nodded off here...

Lots of little updates to do.
Starting with yesterday. I spotted a snail in the greenhouse. I didn't relish the idea of pulling him off the side of the glass, so I left it. Starting back to the house when I heard children planning. Pirate Yellow wellies wanted to put up a sign saying 'Snail Welcome Here'. Penny dropped, so I asked her if she was making a sign and she said no. Ok, so I asked if she wanted to get a snail. Her face lit up, so we went back to the greenhouse and she picked it off of the wall and into her pirate sand castle bucket. So I was happy, they were happy. Job done.
Then on route back between greenhouse / house, I heard what sounded suspiciously like the children were plotting which was confirmed when I was told: I know that you are going to tell us off but... So went to have a look. They had put out 2 piles of fruit, one of chopped banana and the other satsuma segments. They were going to do an experiment to see which the snail liked to eat the most.
Managed to get back into the house before the girls and told HH what they had done before they came in looking all sheepish and guilty. Pirate was out dancing and Fairy Pink Wellies wanted to go out into the garden. The penny clicked when I realised that she wanted to go check on their experiment. Told her not to, that she needed to wait until her sister was back...
She comes home and there is her in her dance clothes and her sister in her PJs checking their experiement. The bananas had gone and the satsumas had changed position. Snail himself had escaped.
Don't blame him.

Oh ok.
Made me smile because I thinking...

Mentioned to HH that Dad was coming round with some dahlias for me and a snake...
Not alive one I hope...?
Then the penny dropped.

Imagine something out of a Disney film. Me all happy n chirpy carrying a tray of plants putting them down on the green house bench. Turning round to glance at the ground... Ahhggh!!!!! Scretch! A big fat black slimy slug is crossing my inside green house path from the girls potato side towards the benches with the dahlias. So I face a dilemma not whether or not to stamp on him (instinct would not have even considered doing anything else if I were me Dad.) No my dilemma was what do I use to scrape him off? What matters least. What dont I care about that I wont flinch each time I touch it again? Ended up with a green label (because I dont like the colour green.) but that didnt work so I picked a white label that I spotted on the path. Managed to scrape him up and took it up to the house. Showed it to pirate but told Fairy not to look (she is feeling a bit sick today) of course she looked. Left it on top of a fence panel and hope that it isnt there when I in back. Should be better if I were more like my Father.

My Dad arrived clutching a seed tray with some pots of dahlias and a bucket container with some manure in it......
I've brought you your dahlias and a I thought that the girls might like to see a snake. So I brought one to show them. Thanks Dad (for the dahlias) and I've got some dahlias for you. Oh, Thank you, then he started to chuckle... never seen pots as big as those before! What are they? Staleen Condessa, my Staleen Condessa seedlings.
I couldn't find my camera grrr
Dad got him out to show the girls, Pirate was very nervous and neither of them liked me putting the camera down into the bucket to try and get a close up. All very exciting but left us with a difficult decision. Does Grandad take him home to release or do we release him in our garden...
I think if I were a slow worm (and as the girls were told not a snake but it's a lizard) I'd rather be let out at my Dad's than round here. Someone we know, daughter screamed when she saw a slow worm, so her Grandad chopped it in half with a spade.
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Anyway, in the end I decided that the best place for the snake, ahem, slow worm to be let out was at Mum n Dad's so we had to wave goodbye to Dad, my Staleen Condessa seedlings 'In the Biggest flower pot ever!' and Slowey the slow worm.
