Seedlings Update
Yesterday I gave Dad another 6 Staleen Condessa seedlings - the plant pots of the dahlias Dad had brought round for me were the ones that I used to pot up the seedlings, so this time, there was no laughter generated by me using too large a pot.* These are all my nonStaleen Condessa seedlings i.e. the ones that I am planning on growing.
I have 8 Red Balloons and 2 more that are ready for potting up. 4 Eastwood Moonlight 3 Downham Royal 2 Spanish Dancers.
Think that that is plenty for me 19 seedlings.
Which leads me back to the question.... where are they going to go???
*1 plant each of: Eastwood Moonlight, Peach Delight, Weston Pirate, Weston Corsair, Nulands Josephine - (Large pom), Willo's Violet, Trooper Dan. Mind you, I forgot to ask for a Red Balloon, I gave my tuber to Dad.

Introducing a bit of Moonlight code. People who edit their posts a lot might get what I'm talking about and humour me and hopefully anyone that doesn't will just indulge me.
[ ] = I'm out to get something off my chest, might sound untentionally wingey but there is an end to it.... [/ ] ... I'm putting that up to show that I've finished with the down in the dumps bit. As I say at home, turn the page and move on.
ok, my logic explained... You have been warned. Feel free to skip a chunk.
[ ] Not been a fab time recently. Family life has been particularly stressful recently after Fairy Pink Wellies decided to give Pirate Yellow Wellies a piggy back, lost balance fell on her face and broke her front adult tooth. (Sunday evening) Dialed 111, we will ring you back... rung back by Nurse adviser - ring back at 7.30 tomorrow... rang at 7.30, told emergency dentist doesn't open till 10, so they will pass the message on and the Dentist surgery will get back to you... 11.30 rung back no appointments until Tuesday......... No point in booking Tuesday appointment for 'Emergency' Dentist when our Dentist a couple of miles will be open.
So Mum takes her to the Dentist but she is in a lot of pain walking and the journey up the stairs is really steep and it hurts her. Tooth is given temp. fix and goes to school. p.m. temp fix falls out. Poor Mum can't face going up the stairs again and I feel pretty helpless because I'm stuck at work. Dad takes her, school contacts me, wanting to know what she is having for dinner... I'm pretty helpless, well pretty much useless because I don't even have a clue if she is at the dentist or not...
Tooth fixed and she does stay for lunch. Feel guilty all round. Go down to the greenhouse, girls potato look okish but need a drink but then the plan was that they would get watered until we carried them up to the patio because don't need to be in the greenhouse now. Take potato up didn't look to see whose was whose. It's gusty. Why I never thought about gusty winds and a potato plant with big leaves, I don't know. Managed to put 3 canes in. All the time worrying that the canes are piercing through a potato. What if I don't time them up quick enough / properly... etc...
Thinking why don't I learn. Live and learn and I still do stupid mistakes. Haven't brought the other potato up. Worried that I might have killed one of the girls plants.
Tried putting 2 of my dahlias in pots and broke roots...
etc. etc. etc. Going to stop moaning for a bit. [ / ]

Before I head off to bed, just want to say.
I had a chat with a familiar face today. I asked if he had any seedlings this year and he told me that he had 2 this year. When I said that I had some seedlings this year, he asked what your Dad's? No, not my Dad's. Mine. Cue look of surprise.
Admittedly I now enjoy the banter and he has always been good to my girls. Actually, I think they have grown on him. Anyone who likes my girls, is fine by me.
But
I would just like to say, Categorically, that I would never, ever pretend that any of my Father's seedlings were my own. I've loved squeezing the flower heads, hoping for a bit of luck and getting any seed. I've had seed heads drying on pieces of newspaper around the house. I've been storing seeds that I've been collecting up in pots that I've had in my lounge. Dad showed me how he lies the seeds on the soil and sprinkles the compost on top but I've done that to. I've been pricking them out and putting them in their cells. I've been potting them up.
I can't wait to see my seedlings grow and will be chuffed to bits if any flower.
I would never cheat and lay claim to my Father's seedlings. I don't want to and anyway, he'd never let me!
I sincerely hope that he gets a beauty from 1 of his seedlings. I think he deserves it and his dahlias are his passion but bring on Class 89, I hope that I manage to grow 3 of something special, seedling, collerette or waterlilly. So bring on class 89.
I like to think that anyone who has ever read my Diary would know that I would never, ever cheat. My garden might look like a bomb has hit it, last year's debris and lots of weeds but by golly today has made me want to reach for the weedkiller. I'm going to need a very big blank canvas to plant everything that I've got growing.

Been shopping today , time for an update...I only went shopping for one plant, got a couple more on top... n.b. I didn't choose them, admittedly, I asked HH to pick something... especially excited about the Kenora Valentine... I never mentioned it to him, he's got good taste, even if he did say that he liked the spiky ones the most. So I got him to pick a spiky one as well. Last year he picked Willo's Violet and that was a good choice to.

Want to pick an emoticon to represent my Dad in my Update thread.
but a bit too obvious and looks a bit slushy and not the sort of person he is. I am very tempted to use this one for lots of reasons but I think that I am going to have to stick with this. as it more like a regular emoticon.
