5 poms - fingers crossed, if I do it'll be Willo's Violet 5 large poms - won't have 5 3 miniature ball or 3 small ball - won't have x3 Downham Royal this year. So it will be either Red Balloon / Jomanda or Mary's Jomanda. More than likely Jomanda
3 miniature decorative - hoping for Marston George 3 small decorative - don't think I'll have 3 Brenda Ts 1 small decorative - hope that I'll have 1 Brenda T 1 giant or large decorative - won't have one in time.
3 miniature cactus or 3 small cactus / semi cactus Weston....... 3 medium cactus / semi cactus 1 small cactus / semi cactus Weston Spanish Dancer? Ryecroft Zoe, Ruskin Myra or Oakwood Goldcrest? 1 medium cactus / semi cactus possibly Eastwood Moonlight but will be small1 large or giant cactus / semi cactus - won't be big enough Trooper Dan
3 of any type of dahlia not listed - not enough Edwin's Sunrise or Garden Friends. Vase or bowl mixed, arranged for frontal effect
Oh dear - if it is meant to be it will be and if it isn't then it won't.

ok the good news is lilac sport has had cutting taken. Currently residing in pot cutting mix compost and in side open plastic bag as directed by my Dad. Have been told to mist daily and keep it out of the greenhouse but in the shade but sunlight.
The bad news is although I have blooms that look ok today, discovered a lot of baby caterpillars so they won't be looking good for very much longer. So what with the fungus, plants themselves are not looking great. My Eastwood Moonlight seedheads have died on the plants that I plucked and others that I have been plucking, I've discovered caterpillars and one with black fly.
We have had a dewy morning today, my original plan had been to mist in the mornings but not going to today. Shall see how warm it is later. Don't want my cutting to rot.
I had planned spraying with fungusied today but everything is still wet and I don't know whether or not to spray with insectiside or whether it is too late.
Don't really know what to do, so I came in here. Just in case anyone had an advice. Tried to get hold of my Dad on the phone no answer.
I've a show on Sunday and one in a couple of weeks.
Hay hoe.

Just got back from spraying. Oh I hope that I haven't spoilt my potential show blooms.
Exciting news...
Candy Jayne is opening up and oh yes it is going to be stripy. Told the family at dinner and got a 'look' I don't know it they thought I'd gone a, mad or b, winding them up trying to kid them it had some sort of pin stripes.
Don't matter. Tad disappointed it won't be ready for town but it will be ready for the mini. I think that that will be when I get a real 'Look' look.
Very exciting, looking forward to hearing what my Dad will say about it what with him being the perfectionist in the dahlia formation department.
There I'm smiling now. The look on Dad's face, doesn't quite remove the stress and worry of chemical scalded petals but it does help just a bit. Just a tad.
The girls faces will be cool when they see Candy Jayne.
Roll on Monday.

Hope to go and see Mum and Dad later. If I do, might find time to have a look at Dad's dahlias. Particularly his seedlings, the Staleen Condessa's from mine and his Clearview dahlias, the ones that we ordered from the US.
So far the only progress reports on the Staleens is that either a slug has chomped straight through one or they have been rubbish and binned.
Going to go down and check on my seedling and stake a photo of my Candy Jayne.
Bet my Dad can't wait to see that one. Not!If it were his he'd have binned it by now.

Guess what I was dreaming of last night and this morning. So its back to the monotity of weekly life. School, work, 'encouragement' to finish homework, swimming lessons, dance classes, marshal arts classes, clubs oh and today the girls have a trip to the dentist planned. Oh and then there is another show in a couple of weeks... fun fun fun!

Been looking at my photos from yesterday and I just can't stop smiling. Too much to say and I don't really know where to begin.... Can a woman be too happy? Going to have to savour the moment. Been a bit too stressful last couple of weeks and as stressful as a 'show day' gets, more than a tad grumpy round the edges, tears, rows, strops and sulks. (Bet no one else has confessed that before here - probably just my Mad Family) but gosh it is great fun once you get going on 'show day' itself.
Still utterly rubbish at vaseing up and as for my pot display... well but I had a go and I did my best - so I'm proud of that to.
I so wish I had my camera switched on to capture the moment Pirate discovered that she had won the Novice dahlia class. I've never seen her so happy and as for Fairy I can't describe how proud I am of her.
Spent ages down the garden watering my dahlias before the heat kicks in. Really relaxing when you don't have to be anywhere, everythings different on a work day and rushed at the weekends. Supposed to be really sunny right up to October.

Home after a day at work Yay!
My routines hadn't really kicked back into place and this year we have some new, new routines and some old routines to adjust to. Like now. Normally I come home to my Mum and Dad and we have a bit of a chat, normally about the girls or dahlias but today it is quiet. Bit weird really. Hope that I get a chance to talk with them tomorrow.

I know what you mean about the lead up to shows being stressful. I enjoy the taking cuttings and growing on of the plants but come showtime I start to worry whether there will be anything to show/what pests are about/weather problems etc. As you say, come show day it usually works out ok, especially if you get a few prize cards.
