Better get the dahlias update done before I send everyone asleep
I didn't have any poms - needed 5, couldn't find 5 that were not oversize, so I picked the ones that I could to use in my 'arrangement'. Dad came 1st with his Lismore Moonlight.

I came 2nd and Dad came 1st and 3rd with Nuland's Josephine large pom. Unsurprisingly enough, Dad had given me with a cutting.

My neighbours never really needed convincing that I am more than a tad nuts but having been watched running down my garden with my camera and a solar powered moveable stone light, taking about 4 photos of a dahlia in the pitch black and then running back up to the house, they would probably say that I was positively certifiable.
Any why was I running down the garden at a quarter to 10? Because an insect made me go back again?
Why did the insect make me go back because he gatecrashed my photo of my Fred by miniature 'Downham Royal Dec'.

Almost finished the show updates...
Ok Class 90 Vase or bowl mixed, arranged for frontal effect.
I was very impressed with my Dad's exhibit. Didn't think he was into that sort of thing!
Well here is my effort. If they all looked in the right direction... I was actually secretly impressed that they looked as good as they did.
Where as this is someone who knows what they are doing! A well deserved 1st (although Dad muttered that he didn't realise that he needed to stick a few gladiola leaves at the back...)
The whole class - the other vase is also my Dad's he was determined to plonk some random dahlias that he had left over in that vase. My Father has a very strong desire to follow the rules. He can't abide cheating or anything underhand but he is a rebel. Last year there was a class: 3 of any type of Dahlia which was a very popular class one of the ones with the most entries. Dad won it and was awarded best vase in the dahlia classes and the awarded the NDS silver medal. Another competitor made a complaint, said that it was a nas. Dad's award remained because it was correct. However the class has been changed (which matched the other competitor's perception of what the class was last year): 3 of any type of Dahlia, other than those mentioned aboveSo what did my Dad do? Well he won 1st and 2nd. Nuff said. He won the NDS Silver medal.

Last year he won the Dahlia class cup for the highest number of points. Last year he won it with 33 points. This year if I've counted it right I think he won with 55 points.
Like I said before he can't abide any form of cheating or manipulation or canvassing to get enough people to agree with you that you force people to change the rules.
Respect.
