Well done Moonlight. I love the candy Jayne. I have a soft spot for variagated blooms. That purple Weston ? is superb colour. Very hard to find a good deep purple. I had a look on halls and the picture of Weston buccaneer is very different to yours. Much more pinky tone here is the picture from halls website View AttachmentThis is not a good representation of Buccaneer's colour Raymond.....irl has a real "glow" of purple about it... Just a reminder though.....to ask permission from anyone whose photos you wish you use....copywright and all that....

Sorry Lou78W Moonlight oops forgot about the copyright. Sincere apologies for that It is frustrating sometimes trying to pick as the colours come out very much differently when photographed. It is a lovely bloom and great colour.

I agree some dahlia colours really don't look anything like their photo. II think the hardest are the very dark.

Moonlight I find reds, purples ,some pastels if shaded ones and certain pinks not easy. I now Google the variety and look at as many images as I can. What is the red waterlily you have that is a stunner. I want a red waterlily was looking at tarahati ruby. Would never buy buckaneer from the photo on the web but the photo you posted it's a cracker. That next to your staleen seedling or your other seedling the white with lilac would look fabulous.

The waterlily is called Edwin's Sunset.

Going to order some from him. these are for the non show wow ones as most not classified although he claims are exhibition grade.

If you think that they are good enough to show then it doesn't make a difference whether or not has been classified. So long as recognise which category class it needs to go in, it'll be fine.

Love your garden Moonlight. it looks fun and colourful. How old are the girls ? Your dahlias in pots what size do you use. I am going to have to have 15 to 20 in front of summer house to increase numbers. Have a look at Peters-dahlien.at Think you will like some of them. Tell me what you think. I would love your feedback.

I am going to have to have 15 to 20 in front of summ I don't know what size they are but those black pots are from the supermarket. Do you have any supermarkets near you that sell flowers? These pots are the florist buckets that they fill with water to hold the bunches of flowers. Those black buckets with holes drilled in them at home.
p.s. Raymond why don't you start your own diary? It's a good place to mull over ideas and you can go back to bits that you might loose elsewhere and put direct links to info that you find helpful. That's what I do.

Moonlight I might do my own diary. You mean on here my own thread ? Could be fun and suppose it would help rather than writing it down and then referring back to things online. I would have pictures and notes all on the thread so could be more efficient. The trials and tribulations a of a wannabee dahlia novice ! Raymond

I think I will do it Moonlight learned so much this year in gardening again not just with the dahlias. So many mistakes but also many successes. Thank you for suggesting it. I just need to think what to call it. Raymonds diary sounds boring, purple wellies is great and fun. Raymonds ramble ? Raymonds rant ? Need to think about that Have a great day
