Many thanks Moonlight Lou78W I like the ryecroft a little better than the Ruskin. Now to pick the second one. I like kiwi Gloria it is a late bloomer and probably to difficult for me for my ambitions next year. I like the oakwoods although yellow Lakeland sunset caught my eye. These will be 2 of my show varieties. Love the seedlings moonlight the moonlight one and staleen very much my taste

That looks like it could be a very good miniature decorative Moonlight. What I would call a 'proper' decorative as it has flat petals. Hope you get some nice cuttings of all your saved seedlings and can get them to show next season.

Night All So you do go to bed then? Not just a rumour been having trouble with PC as it keeps freezing up usually when in the middle of something. most annoying. However, what I was going to say earlier is that why don't you use the less good blooms to practise your staging. At least they come in handy for something other than the compost heap. Once you find the way that is best for you it cuts down time at thae actual show. Anyway just a thought. will you have any room to try a few sweetpeas next season?

re. practise I think I'll do that.
re. sweetpeas, yes I want to grow White Frills because of it's scent. Not for show or anything clever. Just because I love the fragrance. Don't know where to put it but I had planned in my head to grow sweetpeas again. Last time I discovered that HH couldn't cope with the pollen and it set of his hay fever. My little glass of sweetpeas at the table had to be moved into the lounge at meal times and then after dinner go back because he could be in the same room. Fairy wasn't as bad. So I don't want to greenhouse them, they need to be outside.
I also want to grow daffodils. Lots of bright daffodils. HH likes daffodils and yellow is Pirate's favourite colour. Nice thing about daffodils whole family can plant them. So I shall try not to be precious about them.
A house came up for sale very near where we live. It has a 300 foot garden which backs onto woodland. I would love to live there. I had so much freedom outside when I was a child and I would love to give the girls that same opportunity. They had an open house viewing weekend and I desperately wanted to go look but the timing isn't right for us as a family. It is just that little bit further away from the catchment area of one of the schools we might apply for.
I've decided what I need to do is stop dreaming but try and fall in love with our house. Move the chaos to the side (if only a bit) well try to move the chaos to the side and sort things through. I think last year my drive was to grow as many things that I could that would go with the Novice Cup classes. I think maybe I was so tunnel visioned about the shows that I didn't truly appreciate what I had. This year my desire to see my dahlia Seedlings grow has eclipsed almost everything else in the garden.
Next year what I want to do is fall in Love with my garden. Make it a happier place for the whole family to enjoy.
I also need to focus on our home. It needs to be Loved, not just lived in.
I've also been very unsettled at work. My dream job has become available last week but I would need to work full time. Right now I work twice a week. If I were to go back to full time I would miss out on the things that are important to me and those that I enjoy.
If it is meant to be it will be. I must remind myself of that.

Been petal plucking my Sir Alfs. It seems wrong to pluck something so gloreus and big but if the petals at the back are turning brown and it is starting to rain, I'd rather take a few off the back than to risk loosing the whole flower head. I'm really hoping for some seeds. Can't collect seeds if there are not any flower heads.
Something has been eating them and there are some black blobs that look like poo (you will need to excuse the technical terminology there).
I'll take a photo later.
