I've had a tough weekend, feeling drained. Maybe it will be the drains that will be suffering soon when speedy Gonzales arrives.

I think you should clear it all now this autumn winter. The brambles might need Sbk though . Then you can plant in the spring.
You sure roses and fushias I would have thought another 15 dahlias squeezed in ! And you could underplant with loads of daffodils !

I'm in the middle of doing an update of what happened last year Raymond so it may not yet make sense. You'll need to have to bear with me on this.

I really wanted to do an update of 'the corner' because it has changed a lot since Spring 2013.

You can tell by the previous photos that the tree was dying. Over the years that we have been here the tree has gradually slumping to one side and the branches that the 2 collared doves / pigeons that used to sit on where become brittle and the weight of birds feeding from the bird feeder snapped the branches as they were so brittle and weak.
Then we had the storm and then we had this happen.
On the part of the fence next to where our neighbours have their swimming pool imagine a hot tub sitting on the garden, rather than sunken into the earth. So we were worried that it would all topple over and smash their pool.

So we brought in the emergency tree men.

Which meant that I could plant these:
Which I hope makes my plan make sense, although the exact location of the Jomandas and Mary's Jomanda were very much last minute because I couldn't decide what I wanted. Maybe because I am torn, I know that if I grow and show them I have a good chance of winning or more shall I say a better chance of winning, than if I enter anything else. The torn part is that they are not true Ball dahlias and are Decs but they have still become the judges choice of Ball class exemplification. Which does my Father's head in. He hates them with a passion n.b. if they were exibnited in a Dec class he would have absolutely no problem with them but he wouldn't grow them because they are not his cup of tea. I've grown them because I want a good chance of getting placed. I've done it again this year, I entered Jomanda and won. Unfortunately I made a deal between it and myself. I'd only grow it if it won this year. It did but I could give up on Mary's Jomanda but then much as I don't like them, Mary's is a better colour than Jomanda.

So I am hoping that this all makes sense. (n.b. You would not believe how long this all took to put together. Bit of a perfectionist at times, especially when something is important to me. )
