I forgot Fred Fire
This is my Stalleen Condessa seedling which grew next to Weston Spanish Dancer - so we think that it might have a bit of Spanish Dancer in the dna. This poor bloom has had it's petals bent and nibbled but still looks lovely. Plan to grow it as a miniature.

A while ago I wrote to our Horticultural committee requesting that they consider reviewing splitting some the classes: There used to be only 1 class for ball dahlias and now there are 4 and now cactus/semi cactus classes have the same number (6 classes) and size classifications as the decoratives.
I am really grateful that the Committee discussed these classes and thought that it was a good idea. Dad took 1 look at the classes and said that they should have had a single miniature dec class - because they would be a really popular class and I felt awful because I thought that my suggestion had meant that there would be less Dec classes but they haven't, it's just that there are the same size classifications as the cactus / semi classes (before the vase of 3 was a combined miniature or small cactus/semi).
So I am going to stop feeling guilty, no classes have been dropped it is just that some classes have been increased and maybe if the classes are successful maybe I should encourage my Dad to write and suggest a single vase for miniature cactus / semi and a single vase class for Decs.
and if he won't maybe I should next year.
Max of 2 entries per class and only 1 variety used per exhibit.
The only error in the book is that it refers to the poms being 52mm together with a note saying that the exhibits must conform to the nds size specifications. I think that I will wait for someone else to notice that one.
The other thing that I want to mention is the large pom class made me try growing large poms with Franz Kafka last year - not a success daisy eyes but this year Nuland's Josephine which I really like as the petals fascinate me. Had loads of seeds would be nice if I got a couple of seedlings worth growing from them. Our County dahlia society doesn't have a large pom class, has to be exhibited in the 'any other category.

I hope I don't regret suggesting that they reviewed the ball classes. 2015 Local Dahlia classes:
1 miniature ball (Class 77) 3 miniature ball (Class 78) 1 small ball (Class 79) 3 small ball (Class 80) Please don't let Mary's / Jomanda end up winning 1st and 2nd in each of the ball classes. I'd feel awful if that happened but hay hoe, lets just go for May the Best Dahlia Win.

Good luck with your planning for next year. Will you add in any new small ball or min ball varieties moonlight ?
I am only doing Mary's Jomanda as main show. Got 2 of these Hapet ones pearl and daydream as well to try both supposed to be min ball. Think will be difficult to match 3.

Got 2 of these Hapet ones pearl and daydream as well to try both supposed to be min ball. Think will be difficult to match 3. Don't know what I am doing as I want to drop Jomanda and Mary's but I need a strong alternative to give me half a chance at winning but I haven't found anything suitable. Red Balloon has a better formation but has never won, so not sure if it deserves the plant space. I've had loads of seeds from Red Balloon, so I'm hoping that I get something worth growing makes an appearance - would love it if my Nuland's Josephine threw up something special.
Who knows. Going to have to drop more but I at least I've got a bit more of an idea.
Show or not it's the Seedlings that are most exciting for me right now. I don't think I am very good at the exhibiting but we'll see.

I love those dahlias ML, but I suppose it will challenge the judges and yourself if you concentrate on something different.

I have Red Balloon, never shown it, or seen it win on the show bench. Well not round here anyway.
