Hahaha ! It will be my triffid in the garden . Might not grow it got a pot Tuber of kenora Valentine also. Just want to try one large . Do you regret buying the Sundances? I wonder what it would be like if restricted by a tub rather than in the ground. Dad's grew so much taller than the canes that when some of them caught in the wind, they blew over, they were too heavy and tall for the canes to hold up. Dad uses 3 canes per plant. I only paid a pound for each moonlight . Saying about growing in a tub. David hall did and they got a nice medium from it he said. I will think about what to do.

Reading through the dahlia threads everyone else has dug up their tubers. erm... I've not even started mine. Was going to ask my Dad if he would like to help a couple of dahlia enthusiasts to dig up their tubers (and get to see if done properly).
Girls were keen when I suggested it to them.
Hope so. It has been a special year for them although Fairy has less of a connection with hers as hers flowered later and my seedlings were in the way. Next year the only dahlia which has been pencilled in permanent marker in my brain's plan is Fairy's as hers will be going where Pirate's Amber Festival is now.

Been awake a while. Went to sleep thinking of scrunchies, dreamed about scrunchies, woke up thinking about scrunchies and still thinking about scrunchies. Think I will go back to bed at least I can think about them in the warm. (Makes a change from dahlias at show time!)

Just wanted to explain what happened with Majestic Athalie. Although it is on that web page, I couldn't find it in the current catalogue. They are organised by type and then size. I thought that maybe they had stopped growing it but it was eventually spotted on page 22. The reason why I couldn't find it is because it is listed as a semi cactus but no size. Long story shortened discovered that it is actually a cactus, a small cactus. So it is in the wrong the place.
Mental note to self, it is 2666 and I need to make another phone call. So there you go, there was a method to my madness. Have to pick some that will legitimise the expensive postage.

Hope you have better luck with Majestic Athalie, than we did with Eastwood Star from them.

Started thinking about next year layout - didn't get very far, so went to bed. But went to bed with a smile on my face because somewhere I've got find a place for affectionately known as 'Fred Flump' and affectionately known as 'Downham Dec'
So no they are not named technically I believe they are Fred 3 and Fred 4 but I'll need to double double check the labels. In my head, Downham Dec is a miniature and Fred Flump, I am going to try to grow as a small. Unless of course my Dad suggests otherwise. So I was thinking about putting Downham Dec in with my Ball and Dec 'in the corner' which would mean Hillcrest Hannah planned for the corner (of 'the corner')with miniatures either side before we get to Amber Festival which is a small on the right.
I was trying to organise them with pictures on each but can't find a decent Hillcrest Hannah to use which as it is Fairy's it is a tad frustrating.
Anyway who knows what they will look like when they grow in their 2nd year. Whatever happens I am proud as punch that me seedlings have got this far.

Hi Moonlight I like your downham dec it looks very promising, has it got a bit of Mary's Jomanda in it. I sincerely hope not! Last year it was quite near to Mary's and Jomanda so it could well have some of their dna but it is a seedling from a ball dahlia called Downham Royal funnily it is Fairy's favourite of the two but she think it is pink, it isn't pink it is a deep purple. In fact she wants to grow it herself. So I told her that she had made my day because she has.

Deep, dark purple is Downham Royal, Mary's Jomanda might be a little more tricky to spot... Red nearest the camera is Weston Pirate (no surprises there).
