I have a fairly large pond in the garden and many years back we had what we think was frog spawn, we decided to keep this in the pond but on closer inspection we had three loads of this spawn. At the time our fish was very small and not to many. Last two years ago we was sitting in my home made lean-to and we could hear crocking (the noise a frog makes) coming from under the flooring, then on a wet day we found loads of toads, we think they are toads as they are ugly. This year 2013 that was we had loads and loads of them, our dog played with them or should say sniffed them till they jumped away. We now put all the spawn in a pond in the country side or give away. It is a bit dodgy some days walking down the path as we only have a very small garden and I would hate to tread on any of them, we have named two very large ones after folk we know. We also have people living near by bringing the back from there gardens to us. I must admit, I would not be with out them now, just wish they would stop having baby's.

In 1974 I was driving on a station north of Swan Hill, which means it was just in New South Wales, and the frogs were crossing the road to get to the river at dusk. There were so many they were like leaves lifting and the car was slipping on them. It was horrible. Then when some of the station race horses were going to the river to drink I gave up driving and my husband took over. The station belonged to the secretary or president (I don't remember which) of the Victoria Racing Club. I just looked it up on google and it is there. It's pretty big.

I rather like the fact that 2 very large ugly toads are named after people you know

I like that as well caretaker ! I love frogs & toads, we used to get quite a lot of frogs & one or two toads in our garden, we have a tiny pond, but a couple of young cats who moved into the area a few years ago kept catching them & killing them & now we rarely see them.
