Totally surprised today, looked out of the window & could see a little bird on the back fence, thought it may be the blackcap back but looking through binoculars I could see it was a female bullfinch eating pyracantha berries. I tried to get a photo through the window on zoom as I didn't want to frighten it off & then a few minutes later saw the male flitting about in the garden. I've never seen bullfinches here & have only seen them I think once when we were driving through a village somewhere & there were a couple in a hedgerow.I'm 'gobsmacked'!

I usually have it in my bag whenever I go out sweetpea or on the table in the front room at home, it's only a compact digital, couldn't carry a 'proper' digital SLR around with me, too big & heavy. I think I'll look for a compact with a bigger zoom though, most of my 'bird' pics. are taken on zoom through the kitchen window, that's the only reason I ever clean the windows!
