saw my first ladybird of the year today. As I was leavibg the g'house I noticed it crawling up my sleeve so I put it in some shrubbery.

Seen a couple of ladybirds the last 2 months, even saw a honey bee last month.

If its to be a hard winter and a late spring they hibernate deep within cover ie sheds . If an early spring is expected they stay in the garden for a quick defrosting to eat those pests. I have also recently read that 2014 IS TO BE BE THE HOTTEST ON RECORD you heard it here first

I hope they stay around to gobble up the inevitable aphids, SueA! There are two peacock butterflies in the garden, as well. Lovely to see them.
