Incidently, I noticed that you have opened your bag of perlite from the bottom, rather than the top ? I assume this is because you where using them on your upside-down trailing/hanging plants ? Bingo lol

Waiting on Moonlights approval lol I've sold most of my craft stuff to allow me to buy gardening stuff so I don't have very much left Wall mounted and overhanging is the way to go. Even put up vertical support timbers against the walls and timbers on top of them to allow you to hang baskets etc Peat rather than peat free soil is lighter apparently (read it in a gardening mag) though I thought it would have been the opposite

I've honestly been doing very little, with being off form, but hoping to get back into it at the weekend as I'm off for two weeks. Everything is growing well, I am keeping up with the watering (most of the time) especially in the hot temps we've been having. I also did some weeding. But other than that I'm at a bit of a stand still. Any motivational talks from any of you could help lol

Don't worry about it KC. We all come to a standstill sometimes. We are not the same every day. I find the best thing for motivation is to read our forum, but it is not a good idea to read derekbrooks' contribution all the time. If he has a spare 15 minutes, he manages to find something gardening related to put that time to good use. It tires me out just reading his efforts.

HAH... and that is CHERRY talking.
You lot ALL exhaust me. I don't know where you get your energy from, I really don't.
Oh... KC.... I've been adapting your water bottle sprinkler system with different sprinkle patterns, and different sizes. thus far, the large 1ltr coca-cola-type bottles are best at producing a jet (and for precision-dribbling on tiny dried-out seedlings). The smaller 0.5litre milk bottles are good for a quick 'shower spray' though.
Also, I've been toying with turning them into AutoWaterers, to dribble water into key plants throughout the day. So far, it has not been.... entirely.. successful. The most recent one sat in the plantpot all day doing very little. Then, when I was in the polytunnel tonight, and without any obvious reason, suddenly started gurgling, and quietly flooded - in turn - its plantpot, its saucer, and then the rear half of my workbench. ( I had my back turned, and didn't notice until the flood reached the other half of the bench, and started to soak into my shirt). All in about 4 minutes. Strange.

lol Cherry, I have to admit I do try to cram my time with gardening stuff as much as possible, though I can't say it's to the same standard lol Yup, I've different sized bottles and nozzles too depending on what I'm watering, amazing aren't they? They do work well to dribble into plants throughout the day, one of my raspberries wasn't looking the best after Bob got his paws into it, on a very hot day with roots exposed so I used this system you're talking about and it worked a treat, totally revived the plant. I think the key is not to totally wedge the bottle in, but have a little space around it so the holes don't clog up but you're experience has given me a right laugh, though my pot was a big one so the 2L bottle worked well for it.

I know a friend is getting me some gardening stuff for my birthday, so that will give me a new lease of life to put into the back yard and with having two weeks off work, that will surely help, but everything is steadily growing well

I gave everything a good watering last night and this morning. I potted on my fuchsia as they were pot bound. One looks almost dead so fingers crossed with that and one looked fairly good but when I lifted the wee pot the plant snapped away from the roots leaving nothing at all growing at the roots so should I dip it in rooting powder and hope for the best??? Must take more photos to upload here

Check the roots for vine weevil and take normal cuttings, taking off the flowerhead. That is a shame that your fuchsias suffered when they were doing so well.

I think they were just too compact on the shelf. No evidence of bugs of any kind. It just snapped off. Probably human error more than anything sadly. All else seems good, so far

Hopefully the hedge is being pulled out this evening so had to get a head start on moving stuff. Just 3 large pots to 'walk' up the path a bit out of the way as they aren't lift able. I have a few photos to get uploaded soon
