Hmmm.... be carefull KC. Some of your Calcifuges are looking distinctly Ericaceous ? The only plants I've planted in ericaceous compost is the blueberries confused.

Sorry I've been AWOL, back now, but likely to be a bit sparse again for a wee while. Life is manic. Work is busy then home is busier. Fairly constant at the moment. I haven't been on here since the last day before my leave from work. I went home and the hedge was pulled out and on the trailer, with all the stones from the front of the house, and some of the soil, as well as the two concrete paths infront of the house. Brilliant to get it away. Then we ended up in Wales over the holidays, been there before and could happily move there in a heartbeat. We came back and tidied the front of the house up a bit better. We bought an old landrover and went camping a few times. We're trying to do the front of the house wee bit by wee bit, basically when we've money to spend on it. So far we've the left hand flower bed built with bricks, backfilled, partially fenced and partially temporarily planted out with freesia, gladioli, cosmos, geranium, lobelia and begonia at the moment. Nothing is plumb or level at our house, not even the house lol, the front garden is no exception, so the wall is being built at a slope, curved and like a retaining wall to hold the soil back rather than the soil pushing it forward. We got there in the end. We hope to get the gully in tonight at the gate entrance and maybe more fence posts cemented in. Fed up buying stones, sand, cement, posts, rails, boards, postcrete etc etc. Talk about costly for a small area. But it's looking great and will be brilliant once it's done. Once that's done we will need to do the much bigger flower bed at the opposite side. We're backfilling with all the soil that was at the front and just topping it with fresher stuff. Once all the soil is away and the beds are done etc we can start bricking the garden itself, that'll be an experience! need to buy more stones and sand and get them all wacked down with a wacking plate (more blinkin money to hire that!!!) before we lay the brick. Cannot wait until it's done. The flower beds are important at the moment as I need to move ALL the flowers from the back yard to the front planters to allow us room to do stuff out the back, as you could see from previous photos there wasn't much space with everything topsy turvy. We need to get logs, coal etc in for the winter and no room to stack them until the flowers are moved. I'm tired lol and REALLY want to go home!

Sounds like you've been very busy KC , it will all be worth it when it's finished & planted up, the prep is a pain but when it starts to come together you'll feel better - & less tired!

We'll get there wee bit by wee bit. It's just we've our finger in so many pies, so to speak, so much on going at the moment, and nothing finished. I transplanted more begonia and two sunflower this morning. More begonia and geranium to do later when I get home and some bulbs.

Things have been manic lately. I have been peeping in on you all but not so much typing, having problems with my hands. The front of the house is coming on well. About half way there. I am getting the back tidied up in the middle of everything else, getting flowers moved from the back to the front. Photos will follow
