This is Pachysandra terminalis growing under the lilac, Weigelia and Spirea. It is a lovely ground cover plant. Elsewhere I have P. terminalis variegata, a lovely creamy variegated plant.

Hi Floydie, they are winter aconites or to give it its botanical name Eranthis hyemalis. try to buy pots of them in growth rather than the 'dry' corms in the autumn. They seed freely in my garden. Dont worry about not knowing names. Thats what is nice about the site, ask and you will be helped.

before we moved in we built a pond. We dug down and at 14" depth we hit chalk bed rock So we then built up to produce a walled pond that is 3' 6" deep at the deepest with shelves at 10" and 18" deep. The walls are breeze block inner with red brick outer walls. Before we put the liner in we 'lined' the walls with old blankets and then the butyl liner went in. The capping stones hold the liner in place. One of my favouite places in the garden.
