Last night about 1935 I saw a jay land on the gate near where the peanut feeder is. It flew onto the feeder and took a peanut then flew off with it. they are lovely colourful birds and this is the first time I have seen one on a peanut feeder. Seen them taking cherries and acorns before. just wish I had the camera to hand..........as usual

They are beautiful birds Sweetpea, I have a young one who visits my bird table most days but although he/she has tried a couple of times to get on the peanut feeder I don't think its flying abilities are quite up to it yet, but it keeps trying

They are lovely looking birds & I think maybe they're becoming more common or maybe just more are visiting gardens for whatever reason - looking for food /new habitats. I've never seen one around our garden & had never seen one in the area but recently I saw one on the grass verge at the recycling plant just down the road.
