That could sound silly @hywel, but it isn't. My Handel is not as good as I grew in Scotland and last year it didn't flower. In fact, if it doesn't smarten up, its days are numbered. I didn't get a lot of flowers.

Cherry, I put that comment because I saw a photo of Handel .... but I was looking at the first page instead of the current one I must have clicked on the wrong number ...
So then, when I realised that, I deleted the comment ... but you saw it before I deleted it ...

It doesn't matter @hywel. It is all valid.

My 'Handel' seems to be sulking this year. I haven't had a single flower yet!

Handel cannot be a consistently good rose, yet it is very pretty.

Perhaps mine is also sulking. I would rather it sulk for a while than die off ....

I agree - it's such a beautiful rose, and I believe I bought it after seeing yours, @hywel. Here's one of my pots of lilies tucked into a bed with Shasta Daisies - 'Aglaia' I think. This is the new area of planting, with the Centaureas, Penstemon 'Thorn' and new rose at the back. OH actually said he liked the colours!

Thank you - it's certainly more diverse than Osteos on their own! I'm enjoying planting it up, too.

I seem to remember us having a conversation about Handel some time ago, Geranium ...
Nice plant combinations in your photos ... I especially like the lilies and daisies together

Thank you, @hywel. I was pleased with that particular combination - I tried putting another pot of lilies into a bed - they looked so 'wrong' there that I ended up putting them amongst my containers.

That's true. I think the problem was that they're too tall!
