Several years ago I identified a plant as a forsythia but cant remember why it was special. is there a variegated form? or an evergreen form? I know there is a white flowered one and I dont think that was what made it special. argh

I have one called F x intermedia 'Variegata' which has lemon coloured flowers and a slightly variegated leaf. I also have Abeliophyllum distichum, which I think you're referring to when you say 'White Forsythia'. I haven't been too happy with it, though - it's very reluctant to flower.

my Abeliophyllum hasn't flowered in 3 years either, wonder what the secret is?

I was told that it needs 'baking' in the summer to ripen the wood. Says it all really, doesn't it.

I just went to take a look at it, and there are a few buds. Only a few.

Yes, I'm happy with it, and I bought another one the same for our daughter's garden as a b'day present 2 or 3 years ago. Guess who has to prune it, though!
