My husband has planted two palm trees can anyone tell me how to look after them, feeding watering etc. They seem to be looking a bit orange with a few black spot all ready, had them a few weeks now.

What type of Palm trees are they? Only one really hardy enough to withstand our winter Trachycarpus Fortunei although Phoenix canariensis will cope with a relatively mild winter though safer being brought indoors. Most if not all others need to be kept indoors.

I agree with Sweetpea although there are more in the Trachycarpus family, I also have wagnerianus that stands up ok to UK winters it has smaller fans so doesn't get affected so much by wind and is a good one for coastal areas, There is a much similar palm called chamaerops humilis that sometimes gets mixed up with Trachycarpus in garden centres and this one is much less hardy, the way to tell is this one has spines all along the leaf stems...trachycarpus does not.

Are you overwatering? You will notice the palm tree leaves turning brown or yellow and falling off quickly without drying first. To avoid this mistake, you need to make sure the palm soil has good drainage. You can do it by adding 30%-50% sand to the soil mix when you plant your palm. A new planted palm tree should be watered every day for the first week.
