BIL had to go to St.Georges Tooting on friday to have a stent put into one of his arteries/veins(?) in his heart. the Doctors had tried a couple of weeks ago but couldn't do it so there was talk of having to drill their way through Anyway as it turned out it was good news as they were able to get the stent in. He was due to come home on saturday morning so my Sister and Nephew went to pick him up. While they were waiting my Sister had a bit of a 'turn' - she couldn't move her arm and leg and her speech was a bit slurred She was rushed to A & E -it turned out she has had a mini stroke- she is o.k now and has had lots of scans and tests and will now have to take warfarin. Luckily the feeling came back in her arm and leg quite quickly My DIL's Mum came home at the weekend after spending 10 weeks in hospital - she has just had a major operation for cancer of the bile duct - they also had told her she had colon cancer but that turned out to be a polyp which was dealt with. My Sister is hopefully coming home today-I am just thankful she was lucky being in the hospital and able to have medical attention immediately What a weekend!

It really is a case of how lucky your sister was to be on the spot when she had her mini stroke. She really was in the right place at the right or wrong time.

It must have been very worrying for you all Esther, luckily it sounds as though they have all got the right treatment at the right time. Best wishes to all of you.

The earlier the stroke is diagnosed the better. Hope all goes well as I know from experience a bit about it. One of my boys had heart problems and had a stent put in. has to take something now for angina. Aspirin I think but not sure. I don't take warfarin but aspirin and statins. Also got a physio coming round to try and sort me out. Just got told today. OH reckons it should be a Psycho

The words physio and psycho are rather alike SP. May be you got mixed up and not your wife.
I take warfarin and simvastatin, but I feel great.

Thanks Everyone My Sister is coming home this evening She didn't really want to have to go on Warfarin because of all the blood tests involved - getting blood out of her is like getting blood out of a stone

That's good. I had to laugh at your comment about getting blood out of her! I'm like that - they usually have to try several times to get some of mine! She might have to get used to tests if she has to be on Warfarin, though!

She does know that Geranium - she took our Dad regularly for his blood tests
