Thank you Sue...Winnie and William both love hugs I am having to train Winnie all over again ! Trying to get her to understand that babies don't really like "Boxer Kisses", and putting big heavy paws on a baby swing /car seat / travel cot (containing a baby...) is not quite a good idea She's getting the message though, and is becoming very protective of baby William. I would never trust her on her own with him however, and there are times when I have to restrain her from being too "protective". It's difficult....

It must be difficult @di especially with Winnie being deaf. I remember our boxer Tess was the friendliest dog in the world but she wanted to jump up & kiss everone whether they wanted it or not!

Ahhh I remember Tess xx Boxers are very lovable and friendly....but they are also very large (well Winnie is...) and a bit "heavy handed" Today Winnie sat and looked at Baby William through the mesh sides of his travel cot. The cot is quite flimsy...and Winnie has big teeth....but she was a good girl and just lay down and "guarded" him From what I understand and from what I've read, the main reason dogs attack babies is because they get over excited by the sound of the baby's rapid heartbeat....fortunately Winnie's deafness means this isn't a problem. I've spoken to our Vet, and asked for advice....I was told just to be relaxed around them both, allow Winnie to "sniff" everything that is baby related (even the nappies) and to give Winnie something with William's scent on it. She now sleeps with one of his muslin squares (used to mop up milky chins) in her bed Next time William visits I'll try and take a photo of them both, and post it in this thread
