I thought it would be great when my children are old enough to do Christmas for me, but the weather was terrible in Edinburgh (daughter), making a dangerous drive home and the next time, my daughter came from Australia, did the food shopping, and was then so ill with flu she had to visit the hospital. I think I am doing the New Year dinner for younger son and his partner. This is always steak and kidney pie with sausages across the top of the meat. A hangover from my years in Scotland.

I used to ice-skate a fair bit at Peterborough as a teenager, but skating outside must be fun. If I could still stand up without doing the splits.

You'd be alright there Bess , they have little penguins which you can hold onto & push in front of you, they started with ones for children but now have adults using them too, I would need one or else I'd have to hold onto the side or someone's arm! We just watch - O.H. can't skate & I haven't since I was about 17 & I wasn't any good then either!

I'm not keen on New Year either Rosie , you're definitely in the wrong place if you want to have a quiet one!

When I was little Cherry & still ate meat I used to like steak & kidney pie, but I did used to pick all the kidney out & leave it!

So it will be a family Christmas and we will stay in the usual hotel to make it easier for her.
