I have recently in that past few months noticed that my rather brightly coloured cockscomb has faded and is looking a little sorry for itself. I'd be interested if anyone could tell me if im supposed to remove the bristle like heads or leave them to die back for winter?

Cockscomb (Celosia cristata) is a half hardy annual, Philippa, so it will not survive the winter. If you have seed heads/pods, I would suggest you harvest them for next year.
