I have a friend who is nearly 80 but a very good gardener. This is the first year she has had a problem with her sprouts. They are growing with basal leaves, but no main stem, so no sprouts are actually growing for her. She asked me to ask you what is happening and will phone me for the answer as she does not have a computer.
Everything else in the garden is marvellous. She grows big Chrysanthemums, great tomatoes and everything you would expect in the greenhouse and allotment.

I assume they were sown from seeds Cherry. if so it is possible the seeds were of some other brassica. Maybe collards or the like. A long shot I know but seeds have been known to be inadvertantly mixed up before. my tomatoes are an example, definately not all gardeners delight. if bought as plants there could have been a mix up there too. brassicas tend to look very much alike at the young plant stage. just a thought.

Thanks sweetpea. That sounds logical and I will let my friend know this tonight. This friend lived at Ten Mile Bank and moved to near Winchester. I did hear on the local gardening programme that a lot of rogue seeds of tomatoes have been on the market. They were incorrectly labelled.

I agree with sweetpea, it sounds like some other Brassica rather than sprouts.
