Quite a few germinated now. Some a bit behind. Will transplant to rootrainers this week and hopefully all will be done by next Sunday. how are they doing now scrumpy ? do you think I could sow some seed now in the greenhouse or is it too late for an early start ? i have the new heated propagater which was finished too late last year to be useful so raring to go this year

Very well advanced. Been so mild. Wish I'd waited until mid November which I will do next year. With your propagator you can start them anytime, though I'd probably wait until 1st February now.

Nice and leggy and ready to plant out !! Never been so far advanced, even got the side shoots showing. Should look better when I've stopped them. When that will be I don't know, but I'll try and leave it until mid February, for planting out mid March. They went into the cold frame early November. Gave them a light watering today, first one. Won't touch them again until mid January.

why sow sweatpeas so early i dont know anything about them in just curious Gives them a longer growing season allowing root systems to better establish for planting out. Btw I seldom if ever stop (pinch out) my plants as they usually produce side shoots naturally. Of course if you want lots of shoots then pinch out

Will look at the "jungle" of sweet peas in the cold frame soon. Haven't watered them for about 6 weeks. They have side shoots growing well, and need a really good tidy up and excess top growth removed. Might look a bit better then. Ready for planting out about a month ago

Lovely scrumpy, they look superb ,you`ll not find better in any shop. I haven`t even sowed any yet and I love them so much . Seems a shame to decapitate them like that though i know it has to be done . Do you think the snips could be used as cuttings for more plants ?

My sweetpeas planted 25/3/15 are doing well. Can I plant them where they are to flower now or is it too soon in case we get frosts.

How are you growing them? If they are individually grown with a good root system they can go out now no problems. If there are a number in a small single pot I'd be inclined to separate them into individual pots and grow them on for a bit longer.

Hi Scrumpy, There are 3 or 4 to a pot so I will separate them, as you say, and keep them indoors a week or two. Thanks for the info.
