Took 34 cuttings this morning all lovely just one hollow. So that was good. Mary's jomanda, Weston pirate, senzoe Ursula, winholm Diane, Ac Abby and Clearview Debby. More candy and zoe soon. Can I ask I am noticing some yellowing on the leaves on some cuttings . Is this a lack of light ? Tips ok . Also one of my rooted winholm Diane the leaves going yellow is this root rot ? Bin ? Tel one of the garden friends and one wyns favourite have bolted up looking great would I be able to take the tip as a cutting ? Not sure how many sets of leaves up on these. I will post a picture tomorrow. could I move these into mini greenhouse so they get maximum light will place a propagstor lid over them at night so try are kept frost free. Will give them a spray as well just to be on the safe side with pests Etc... Have a look for insects and things.

Raymond don't worry about winholme going a touch yellow , mine do and they pick up later when potted up. You've done well to get them rooted , they are one of the hardest for me to root with my set up.

Thanks Tel and ste b . Wyns I will let grow a bit stronger and then stop it and try and root the growing tip. Great looking plant. I would like to have four or 5 wyns I will also grow her 7 or 8up. Winholm Diane I am surprised I have rooted it Steve as it is one of the only ones I have managed to ! Hahaha . Weston pirate I think has rooted firm in pots and bolt upright but waiting another week before potting up. Going to give the cuttings more light not direct but more hopefully will perk up the colour a bit. Some look a bit pale and yellow. More so the earlier batches. The odd one still succumbing but not nearly as much. I read this pale and yellowing can be a sign the plant is rooting as it puts its energy into the root formation. Saw that online. Don't know if true or not. Propagator is not switched on with this heat lately soil temp stays around 11degrees on the thermometer When I check in the morning. Vents open in the day closed at night.

Dianthus the numbers 6-7-8 Tel was meaning the amount of blooms he allowed to bloom on his plants and he said he did not see any difference in size growing 6-7-8 per plant.
Different varieties require different amounts of blooms growing on them to get them to the showable size which is bigger than the garden classified growing sizes. The judging rings are bigger.

Depends on variety. And when you stop them. Zoe will easily be in flower from an early May cutting. Dianes late April. Candy mid April. Senzoe early May.
If you have early cuttings that are in bud before you plant them out, let that bud flower. It'll slow down lateral shoots as it concentrates on the flower. Then cut it back to about the 4th/5th leaf joint after flowering.

On the cuttings I go along with scrumpy. Brenda is taking it day to day Raymond, will take a while for her to get used to the loss of her son and brother within 4 weeks of each other.

If you want 8 blooms you take the plant back to 4 pairs of leaves to give you the eight blooms you allow one bud either a central bud or if that is a few day's early for a show grow on a wing bud.

I am so happy tonight 2 lovely rooted Weston pirates and another winholm Diane. The Diane and one of the pirates great roots. The other pirate good but a little smaller.
I am so happy to have a modest success after all the issues. I think I have more rooting but waiting a good week yet on those.
The last two trays of cuttings I took one in coir and one in sand the coir look excellent. The sand some flagging zero with the coir have misted the ones in sand. Temp in summer house today got up to over 26 degrees the soil temp almost 20 degrees tomorrow and Tuesday lid off propagator supposed to cool a little mid week. the propagator is not switched on.
