Well the plants seem to be doing better. Had two feeds of high nitrogen not sure if they need another or not. Weston pirate is going bezerk in growth. A mass of breaks looks like a Pom.
First ties in on a few the zoes, Andrea and a few others. Allowing a flush of kenora sunset to come. Buds much bigger and stems longer. Some disbudded wings and one pair done and some two pairs down. See the difference in size and petal.

Any recomendations for bug killer anybody? Plagued with blackfly on our plots. Bugclear Sybol ineffective. I just blasted them clean today with water and a touch of washing up liquid. Trouble is they keep coming back and bringing a few friends! Used to get Murphys tumblebug years ago but no doubt it's on the long list of banned products. That was highly effective.

Been assessing the plants tonight once I got in from work. Hillcrest candy etc not getting the shoots I wanted numbers wise.Very strong upper shoots but not lower down. Should I knock these upper shoots out or pinch out to encourage from lower down ? The shoots are there lower down but not developing at the same rate.
Zoe I am having the issue that where it budded up so early on every stem. I knock out the buds and stopped but every new shoot that comes also has buds. Should I knock back .
Some varieties are behaving like Ruskin Michelle, grenidor pastelle, Andrea, pirate. These have just thrown me a bit.
Is it also ok to remove leaves that are obstructing shoot development ?
Any tips would be great.

I remove all leaves to within a foot of the soil. Zoe, keep knocking back each side shoot from each leaf joints when you see the bud, until you either reach the last pair of leaves and can go no further, or until about the 10th of August. Or you can let them flower now, and go for 2nd flush for September shows. That's what I do. Next year, late cuttings stopped late will make it easier. Hillcrest candy, if you have 4 or 5 strong shoots concentrate on those, get rid of the weak stuff. Wait for the buds to form, then start knocking back. They will grow nicely on a side bud/lateral. You can allow 2 to grow on some stems, one on the others to get to 7 up.
