Thanks for the tip Ian..could anyone advise me if it matters with collerettes if they are grown with tubers or cuttings from tubers?... Does it make any difference to the flowering as in quality? When I finished taking cuttings from my collerette last season I planted the tubers out with the plants from cuttings, to be honest I did not see any difference. But we are only talking about one row of petals.

ian normal horticultural fleece is ok ? Was going to make a light frame with split canes and just wrap a layer of the fleece over the Tuber trays.

Hi, Raymond, Normal Horticultural fleece is fine, don't lay the fleece on top of the trays as you say make a light frame and drape it over 'Tent' like. It makes a great difference and helps maintain a warm temperature

So vitapod is set up without the sides on just the base unit with garland titan tray fits nicely in it. Will use it as a type of heat mat. Make shift let's see if it works. Heat Mat is to large for the area so trying it this way. Will put a fleece tent over it thanks to the tip from ian . Tubers set up tomorrow and the heat goes on.

Here is my set up. Not as I wanted it but it will do for now. The small split canes are more than enough to support the fleece tent. Thermostat soil probe set to 17degrees.

Hi all so now I have set up. I wanted to know when I should water the compost with the tubers?
Compost is moist still so does not need any yet. I was told little and often. Should this be sprayed on in a mist of just a gentle dribble around the tubers keeping the compost nice and moist ?
Any tips would be great.

Looks fab there Raymond. Where have you set them up? How many varieties have got there, as you know I not a huge grower but to me it looks like you are growing loads. p.s. When are you going to begin your blog now that you've got going? (No pressure there just wondering).

Hi Moonlight looks a lot but not. There are a lot of pot tubers in there. It is on my bedroom desk Put bubble wrap on it as I don't want the wood damaged. Using the base unit of the vitopod without the top . Soil temp this morning 15.6 degrees. I found it got a little hot yesterday up to 20.5 so have turned down to 16 degrees. The fleece makes a big difference. in the tray is pot tubers 4 Mary's jomanda 4 winholm Diane 1 Clearview Sundance these came from my society former chairman 3 Weston pirate 2 peach delight bought at tuber sale zoe field tuber senzoe Ursula field tuber thanks scrumpy 1 hillcrest candy field Tuber and pot tuber bought at tuber sale singles of the hapets vinete Daydream pearl clearview Debby Ac Abby kenora sunset sorbet parkland rave nenekazi Stillwater brilliant chicken legs Those titan trays can fit lots in them. They are not even cramped in. Left myself some room for some bedding ones I liked from last year will sort through them today and put them in. I reckon if a normal good sized field tuber you could get a good 20 to 30 in these titan trays Would depend on the variety though Not a kenora Valentine for example.

We have to make do with the facilities we have Moonlight so long as we get cuttings and can root them then we are in the game. Let's see what happens with my chicken legs. I ordered 1 Stillwater brilliant cutting from station house if these do not do anything. My Clearview Debby when setting up a chicken leg came off in my hand and it has a piece of stem so set that up as well. Going to mist mine today compost drying out on top already will mist a little and often just keeping them Nicely moist . Bye for now got to plant 40 iris and 2 peony and a rhododendron and start pruning the roses .

Hi Raymond your set up looks ok , I usually lay my fleece over the top of my tubers2 or 3 layers or even a old sheet , then when growing eyes green up make my fleece tent , it's nice and warm and moist and dark they must think there under ground it's about tricking them into thinking its spring hehe .

Cheers ste b I will do that. As its indoors just watching the heat does not get too high. I will place another couple of layers of fleece over or see if I have an old sheet then once the eyes show I will make the tent again. Cheers for that a great tip.
