I am allowing myself the space to try 5 singles of new varieties ian ones I personally like the look of. Can't be any worse than jersie! Haha and for that matter Hapet daydream ! Nice for garden but that is it. I shall ponder the min Dec and min ball over the next month of so. I also might just try a moonlight. Candy not much good. Michelle Tiny. Sonia who knows. Kenora sunset the judges hate down here unless bi colour class. I googled that barberry d'amour and it came up as a bright red small Dec on the nds picture archive. Surprise looks lovely but I shall wait on that one. I think it will be Jan and divine for next year. Cutting out a lot to grow two varieties in min Dec not risking any decisions plenty of time. I hope to have an allotment in the next year so then I can grow the numbers for serious showing and enjoy the garden as a garden and grow lots of novelties for my pleasure . Do you know if jubilee boy two is being realeased ? A friend asking about it. I know certain people down here have it but treating it like kristobal ! An allotment would be very useful for you @raymond

Hi Raymond, Barbarry D'Amour is a miniature Dec very dark red as I said earlier like George, also as I said earlier double stop and grow everything up and a little but more it is big, leave all the side shoots on until as late as you can I often bend the side buds down cracking the stems allowing the terminal buds space, by bending over the side buds this will take some vigor out of the the terminal bud and keep them under the ring I do this method with M Suzanne also. Again I tend to base feed only a little on planting on miniatures then water water and no other feed, but you suck it and see.

I had a friend send me through the barbarry catalogue. Looks a cracker ian as do most of them . I like the look of patriot and the red small decs. Maybe next year. Not spending any more money on tubers.

On our little site of 16 plots it's been £37 for the last 3 years with a slight raise for next year. Even on here we have no-one on the waiting list right now. We've had a fair few 'dreamers' come and go in the last few years, take a plot on, work hard for a couple of weeks then give up. Good idea to get your name down at a few different sites, when people give up, get kicked off or pop their clogs you'll move up the list.

Just heard Plymouth council want to increase allotment rent three fold to 150 per annum in nwxt two years!!! That's a big price hike Cat! I wouldn't like it but I'd pay that if I had to, purely because I've nowhere else to grow Dahlias and veg. We're self managed at Lorne street so the committee set the rent, not the council. At this price it's not an expensive hobby.....

Well, reading your comments, none of is paying all that much for our plots. It's great having a patch of land you can grow and plan out any way you like. All for £1 a week or less. When one tenant gave up his plot our secretary took it over as a second allotment as we have no-one on the waiting list. My plot is an irregular shape, the normal rectangle with a large triangular piece attatched. I pay only 1 rent so I'm happy! Steve, I don't know exactly how long the lease is, I will enquire at the next meeting in a couple of weeks.
