I can recommend Trengrove Millenium Raymond which I've grown for a few years now. Can't think of any downside to it, lovely pale yellow blooms with good depth and form on strong stems. Also easy to match from very few plants. They grow strong until the frost hits and mine are in bloom right now. I'm also trying to decide what I am and am not growing next season. Still want new varieties though haha....

One thing I have learnt this year @davidv is there is always that extra "one" we want to fit in!

I was looking at westerton jwh @davidv halls have it from all accounts takes the weather somewhat dahliadave has a video on facebook . So hard to cut some out but I have to. I do want to allow myself the chance to grow 5 singles of new varieties and trial them. Getting rid of a lot. Ps would you have a spare wittemans superba for a friend of mine ? Cat it is hard and so tempting !! ste b I was looking on a web site and there was all these stunning Ruskin small cactus etc... All disappeared. Looked lovely Ruskin fireball, emile, Camille, delight and mediums as well. Stan has produced some cracking ones over the years. If I have the space I want to try Ruskin impact the small Dec.

I have fed them Raymond, but perhaps not as much as I should have judging by your comments. I guess it's too late now for this year, as they'll presumably be dying off soon, but I'll make sure I feed them more regularly next year, and hopefully I'll get some flower.

Yeah Stan has brought some nice small cactus out I have not grown the ones you've mentioned , I have grown impact it's not bad it's a touch cookie we never had to cover it and grown from tuber. Stan always grow it in his front garden I could never give it anyone , it's news to me it's out there I thought Stan never released it ,

ian do you think wyns favourite grown about 11 or 12up would make a decent miniature ? It's not a big small and the blooms coming now better tighter form for me being smaller. As a small not been good for me I grew it 6up as a small.

Why Raymond there are many many very very good miniatures available. I have grown Wyns it got to a good size with me v good form good stems grown 6 up the only fault with it is the occasional yellow streak as reds tend to do. You should not be judging Dahlias at this time of the year well into October in fact half way through. They are bound to be smaller. But by all means Raymond try it as a miniature but why waste your time. The miniature section has lots to offer with a variety of colours available there aren't many good whites just yet Jan is ok but the one of Andrew A isn't good enough but as I say there are many many more classy looking miniature decs available. Cheers Raymond you did ask.

ian I got the size on wyns and matched Diane for size. Just not nice petal lay for me very lumpy. I only had a couple with streaky petal and they where pink. Maybe another variety that prefers it a little cooler . I will try one next year will keep as a small. I have shortlisted marston lilac, hillcrest divine, ryecroft Jan or a barberry as a min Dec for next year. Dikara superb plant lots of vigour but again not good petal lay for me. Winholme diane and senzoe Ursula very good. Andrews seedling I won't grow another that does not know if it is a ball or Dec. I have ordered a tuber of camano mordor from Dave Kent the red min ball from USA.

Hehe Camano Mordor another waste of money I am afraid to say, you are really only just into the show arena and a relative new grower If I were you I would stick with the tried and tested or at least ones that others have grown and put on the bench, yes it is nice to have a brand new novelty. Ask yourself have you the space to waste if so carry on and good luck to you. Of the miniatures you have mentioned they are all very good varieties Dikara Superb does not grow for everyone I found it struggled to get out of the foliage, Lilac has been good for the last few years, Jan can be very very good indeed centres sometimes weak, Hillcrest Divine in spite of it being an Hillcrest of which I will never grow any has great petal lay good colour but is big and you will get lots oversize unles you grow everything up double stopped and more also grow it lean. There are indeed some good Barbarries coming through. The one I think is a cracker is Barbarry D'Amour not unlike George Marston (same stable) can be grown outside just like George. The one I have had great success with this season is Barbarry Surprise a purple miniature Dec with fantastic form with a centre that goes on and on, a cracker with great form.
Good luck

I grow divine Raymond I double stop and leave everything on and take the wing buds off 10/14 days before needed,I haven't had one oversize this year they just flowered late.I also grew marston Suzanne the same way and they were also under the ring.I had some decent blooms of barbarry gala later on after earlier blooms had poor centres.

I am allowing myself the space to try 5 singles of new varieties ian ones I personally like the look of. Can't be any worse than jersie! Haha and for that matter Hapet daydream ! Nice for garden but that is it. I shall ponder the min Dec and min ball over the next month of so. I also might just try a moonlight. Candy not much good. Michelle Tiny. Sonia who knows. Kenora sunset the judges hate down here unless bi colour class. I googled that barberry d'amour and it came up as a bright red small Dec on the nds picture archive. Surprise looks lovely but I shall wait on that one. I think it will be Jan and divine for next year. Cutting out a lot to grow two varieties in min Dec not risking any decisions plenty of time. I hope to have an allotment in the next year so then I can grow the numbers for serious showing and enjoy the garden as a garden and grow lots of novelties for my pleasure . Do you know if jubilee boy two is being realeased ? A friend asking about it. I know certain people down here have it but treating it like kristobal !
