erm, ok Hiya cici Have you ever ordered dahlias from the UK? I've ordered dahlias from US and the tubers that come are very different between here and your side of the world. Do you ever have problems getting 'chicken leg' tubers to grow? Found it quite challenging getting them to grow.

Tel not quite sure of what Steve is saying but I think it was about straightening petals on Cactus varieties when you have a petal or two that are slightly twisted you can with a little patients hold the petal in question between finger and thumb and twist it the opposite direction of the twist and the petals can become more in line and straight. Often you can remove the offending petal, but then there comes a time to stop removing petals as the blooms will become 'gappy' (we have got to leave some petals for the judge) Hehe

I have just split one of mine I got it had some rot on one side and split it into chicken legs. Let's see if it does anything or goes in the bin. Question : I was recommended to use a shade cloth on one of the USA varieties I have got called Clearview Debby. It is a lilac small Dec with a darker lavender outline. Has anyone used shade cloths or can recommend a way of setting them up. I don't intend to cover my dahlias this year. If I do it will be a make shift set up with tree stakes and umbrellas And strong tape !

Mark did not take you long to learn the petal trick hehe, Ian will help and give advice to anyone at the shows he's one of good guys in the dahlia world, but everyone at Harrogate will help a novis so don't think your on your own. The mini ball class at Harrogate don't no who judged it but they got it spot on, 1 st 51 and half pts 2 nd 50 pts 3 48 and half pts, the lad who finished second had a great vase of Blayton lady in red but it was marked at the back it was a shame he only got 14 pts for that vase or he would have won. Your plot get rid of them raised beds, skim top off and then dig it over , Mark meter long beds and meter paths sounds wide path but you need the room to work on your plants. Could you explain this for the novice growers, like myself. Hi Tel , me and Markymate where having the crack about my exhibit Mary's jomanda dropping its petals and it was down pointed . Petal trick I ment he thrown a few loose petals under my exhibit all part of the crack at a show hehe , if I see any twisted petals on cactus I pull them out .

Ian, are you suggesting Cici doesn`t know what she is talking about? Or don`t you like a woman challenging your manly knowledge? Cici, welcome to the site. I thought the misunderstanding of the written word between Ian And Cici, Had been applicable sorted. "amicably sorted" even ....it all started with a mis-spelling...
