Well you know the advice I gave Mark hand digging is the only way the first time you weed, it will pay dividends in the long run (I don't mean just your hands you can use a fork or spade). Good luck it will soon not be big enough for your requirements. Any thoughts of covers? All the best Ian

Thank you everyone, took my time and got everything out! Was talking to a bloke in the next plot and he said it was a well looked after plot just the fella had found it too much at his age, you could tell because the soil is spot on, it looks rough but the digging was easy! Definitely want covers ian just trying to do it on the cheap! The main bit is 13ft wide and about 33ft long so any ideas how many plants i can fit in would be appreciated. Not bad for £7 a year!

10-11 double rows with metre wide paths 12 per double row = 120 - 132 plants in all approx 20" spacings. Ther are plenty small Dahlias you can select to grow outside for the first year. If you can afford it use 1 metre wide Mypex or phormisol to grow through, saves lots of time weeding. good luck Ian

70 cuttings taken of Garden Friends, that's it for that variety, could take more, but I do not want to weaken it.

Tel how many cuttings per tuber . Sorbet I have taken 6 and it is throwing up lots more. I did not count how many per tuber. I will limit it to 10 or 12 per tuber. Letting them come on a bit more and take leaf axis cuttings. Should I feed the tubers at some point ? Just a liquid feed like miracle grow ?

Thanks Tel will feed in about a week as I hope to get my main cuttings early April. They have had some maxicrop growth stimulant which has no feed just seaweed.
