Look what I've just found:
I'm growing:
Downham Royal Happy Halloween Weston Pirate Clearview Jenny Clearview Arlene
Feeling a bit embarrassed that my list is so short. Things have changed so much.

Went to bed feeling very happy, it was like I'd opened a dahlia advent calendar box and found out I had lots of exciting presents.
I had sort of planned my Dec patch (which included my Mary's J and J) but now have more balls and more decs coming so will have to a rethink across the board.
This was last year 2014 Corner
This had been my plan for this year 2015 - mini and small decs corner + Mary's / Jomanda 'ball' made in 2014
With my Downham Royal miniature ball dahlias alongside the greenhouse with 2 Pirates either side with my Fred 3 Downham Dec on the end, nearest to the other decs.

To make my life easier and until I've actually worked out how to split the decs and the balls + I've got 2 more to add but I can't find any photos, so I've left the 2 Downham Royals at the back, as I'm still planning to grow them with my Pirates as they are my favourites.

My poms are bit of a mish mash. I will need to get some fresh Gurtla Twilight. I'm not planning on getting anything else but I am hoping to be able to get some pom seedlings which I hadn't managed last year.

Tel anything you think that might appeal to the Poor Brenda T looks a tad insipid amongst all that colour!
I think seed collection wise, I'm looking forward to seeing 2016 ball and dec seedlings rather than the spiky because of such a range of strong colours.

Single dahlia's certainly attract bees, but would be no good really for pollinating your other dahlia's, result too many singles. I spend a lot of time pulling petals out of some of the decs because they do not let the bees in otherwise.

It feels like a lot of people keep saying that you can't expect to do well in a show unless you have at least 6+ per variety. Feels like other people think I'm doing it wrong, rather than a bit differently to the norm and sometimes it's a bit disheartening.

Also I don't know whether or not to go for trying to get as many Garden Friends from my tuber as I can or whether or not to introduce a 2nd collerette. Which collerette varieties are you growing this year Tel?

You have to go with your gut feeling Moonlight....its true the more plants the better the chance of choice blooms. I did ok with about 3/4plants....we all don't have huge areas available to grow more. The proof of the pudding eh!! It sometimes pays to be different.....

Seriously considering getting Pooh, I looked at Jack Gotts last year very expensive but then if they were my introduction then I can understand. Initially Dad gave some of his raisings to someone else to sell but found he was happier selling them himself. One of my favourite childhood memories is of the polystyrene yellow S shapes. Used to have boxes of them.
I witter. Sorry.
