Local Society Newsletter posted through our letter box. Pirate dashed to collect it and we laughed and asked if she was in it. Yes, she was for coming 3rd in the Children's cup. HH asked can you see anyone else that you know? (Thinking of my Dad) Mummy! After close inspection I am in it for coming 3rd in the Dahlia classes (and yes there were more than 3 exhibitors) Dad got I think 57 points, the pom man 27 points and I had 10 points. The pom man is really sick and has said that he wants to give up his allotment and no more dahlias. I think it is such a shame. I can't imagine a dahlia show without him there. I think about him a lot and I know that if there was anything my Dad or anyone on the allotment could do to enable him to grow some dahlias, they would do it. I wish I could have a chat with him and find out what he thinks about there being 4 ball dahlia classes rather than just the 1. I know that he would have something to say on the matter.

I've made a decision!
Collerettes: Going to try and get lots of cuttings from my Garden Friends tuber - as reigning champion at Harrogate 2014. 1 Grand Duc from Station House - more striking than Pooh I think and short. 1 Teesbrooke Red Eye from Halls because a, I like the 'red eye' centre and b, it has consistently done well wins at Shepton 2012, Harrogate 2012 and Wisley 2013.
Got there in the end on that one (but must confess that last night I had decided to stick with Grand Duc).
Halls: Teesbrooke Red Eye, Tom McClelland, Weston Buccaneer Station House: Grand Duc, Shelia, Downham Royal, Blue Bayou Frank Taylor: Barbarry Surprise

I grew Garden Friends last year but the poor thing was hidden under bigger plants, so this year it is going to be planted out the front. Pride of place. I think that with Teesbrooke Red Eye and Grand Duc it should be very striking. Unlike now which is just very weedy. Planning on digging out all the bushes and random shrubs. Lots of happy bees and with a Lora Luck, lots of fab Collerette seedlings in 2016.

My Sister has taken my Mum to A&E - she got knocked over by a horse. Hope that she is ok. On a lighter note - off to a Pantomine this evening. Girls are really excited and Daddy is really excited to being left on his own with his Birthday presents.

I've been trying to locate hyacinth bulb and vase set. Been out and about no joy. Girls have an opportunity to work towards a badge.
I've not been hunting constantly, just whenever I've been anywhere that might sell them. I am sure I'll get them sooner or later but it might not be this winter
I've done something similar with a potato. That might be worth ago. I'll talk to the girls tomorrow.
