| Carrot News My 2015 carrot harvest. They are small (some of them risibly so) - note the 6" of tape measure at the top of the picture to give a sense of scale. (click for a larger version)
Small perhaps, but I am WELL pleased with them, as it is the first time I've tried to grow them.
I think the box I was growing them in was too shallow. Also, I was a bit ham-fisted when seeding, and ended up with carrots clumped together, tangled up, and 'competing' with one another.
I have already sorted out a deeper box ... lets see what I can do for NEXT year.

I'd be well-pleased with those, Roofy. One variety from a Lidl pkt threw up only four carrots and the other packet were chantenay, so never expecting them to be huge.
Financially, I'd rather carrots fail, than parsnips, as they are so much more expensive.

I've never tried parsnips; it's not a vegetable I use much. (except perhaps a little bit in soups). Perhaps I should try a few ?

Can't beat roasted carrots and parsnips, with a little maple syrup drizzled over them and a sprinkle of salt too, I tend to use groundnut oil, as it has a high smoke point and they roast without burning.
Have a go, Roofy

I'm deeply skeptical but... OK.. could anyone give me instructions for how to roast carrots ? (other than the choice of oil, and drizzling with maple glue syrup ?
