Hi everyone
I am very new to growing blackcurrants, I bought 2 last year, nothing came of either, someone bought me 3 more this year. Has anyone any tips of what I need to do with them to try and get them to grow and produce?
I also have 3 redcurrants coming too.
Many thanks

Many thanks If they were young plants, you may have fruit next summer. If not the summer after.

I do think they most likely were/are young plants, they were gifted to me so very unsure, all I do know is they were bare root and very dry when I got them. I planted them immediately.
Any tips in growing currants?

As I thought, the ones I bought this year were bare root plants, 2 years old.

There's no foliage on them but the stems are growing and shooting up what should I use to protect plants anyway, anything cheap and cheerful?

Some kind of frost fleece will do, and is cheap.
